The Giant Eagle Website has been updated with the NEW Coupon policy. It appears that everything has stayed the same but they added a part about Competitor Coupons!
This is GREAT News for those of us that have stores that didn’t accept them previously. Depending on what stores you have nearby, you may get all kinds of coupons that you can now use at Giant Eagle! I live by Kroger and receive LOTS of coupons in the mail from them…..most recently a $9 off $90 purchase or more
Their policy does state that the competitor coupons must comply with the overall coupon policy which means that you can’t use a printable coupon over $3 in value.
I’m super excited that this is in writing! I LOVE this new policy
This will also make it easier when a manufacturer coupon has a different store’s logo on it!
From the Giant Eagle Website:
Competitor Coupons
- We accept competitor coupons provided they are from a grocery, convenience store or pharmacy retailer. We will not accept restaurant coupons.
- Must be for dollars or cents off a total order or a specific product. We are not able to accept % off competitor coupons.
- All competitor coupons must comply with the overall coupon policy above in terms of valid expiration dates, stacking, item limits, printed coupons, photocopies, etc.
- Competitor coupons will not be accepted through self-checkout register lanes.
- Competitor coupons are not subject to doubling.
- Management reserves the right to refuse any competitor coupon that appears to be fraudulent.
**Depending on what competitor coupons you have, you may be able to make the Giant Eagle Deals for this week even SWEETER! Who’s Jumping Up and Down?

will they accept coupons from cvs red machine?
I’m thinking they will take from a CVS red machine – but I can’t guarantee it. At first, I was thinking that Pharmacy retailer meant those $25 when you transfer a prescription…..but it may also mean any Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens store coupon as well
If anyone finds out other information, please pass it along!
Ah oh–I think couponing may have gotten more interesting lol
They are giving us the ability to take competitor coupons but they took away the great deals using “shelf prices”. I am not sure which was better…
Do you think we will be able to use Wags Register Rewards? My Mom’s grocery store (not GE) in IL accepts them.
Does this mean they will take catalinas from other stores? Like catalina coupons you get from Target?
Barb – I don’t think they will unless they just forgot to remove the part in their coupon policy. Probably around next week I will talk to customer service and ask them lots of questions so we can all understand it a little better.
Below is what is listed in their policy:
Check Out Coupons (Catalina Coupons)
*Only coupons that say ‘redeemable at Giant Eagle’ will be accepted. Catalina coupons are not accepted at GetGo locations.
*Are not subject to doubling
For any readers in the Cleveland/Akron area, check your Acme insert for a $5 coupon wyb 10 Kraft products… Giant Eagle allowed me to use this with the Kraft manufacturer coupons (hence, I believe GE’s term of stacking refers to combining electronic and manufacturer), so after buying 10 cheeses and using the $5 Acme coupon, $10 Catalina, (4) $1/2 Shreds, and (2) $1/1 Singles, I ended up making a $1!! I’ll take that
Carli,
Can you do a break down of what you purchased and which coupons you used, if you remember?
Sure, Seth- I bought 2 Singles (12 oz) and used (2) $1/1 IP and bought 8 Shreds (variety) and used (4) $1/2 coupons from 8/19 SS. Total before coupons was $20, less $6 from the above mentioned coupons, less $5 from the Acme coupon = $9 OOP and I received the $10 Catalina. HTH, but let me know if you need more info!
Lots of questions to ask…I guess the biggest one would be are we able to stack say a Target q with a mfr q, or the Rite Aid ones…and what about the ones that are redeemable only at say Publix, Walmart, etc. Thanks for looking into all of this for everyone, we look froward to hearing your response.
Hi guys! So can we use the CVS coupons that state “$4 off $20 purchase?” I just got one in my email, and I did a major purchase yesterday already..bummer. I guess we’ll just wait on Tammy to get us more info. Thanks Tammy!!
As a GE cashier, I can tell you that if the coupon says “Redeem only at…” or simply “RiteAid” instead of “Manufacturer Coupon,” that is still acceptable as far as I know. We have been accepting these types of coupons. When it comes to register rewards like $10 back OYNO, we do not acknowledge that.
Can I stack a $2.00 manufacturer’s coupon from a Sunday paper with a $1.00 printable coupon from http://www.target.com?
When I was in there the other day, they wouldn’t accept my $5/$25 Dollar General coupon – they said they will only accept the “dollars off total” coupons that are issued from Grocery Stores … and they didn’t consider Dollar General a grocery store, so that would’t be accepted … but they did say that I could use Dollar General printable coupons for specific items though … this is a change to what they have been accepting at my stores. I also wonder about the stacking …
I was at one of my local GE yesterday spending over $200.00 and they would not accept my +Up Rewards from Rite Aid. I was told that they have to cents off a specific item in order for me to use them.
