Tammy, if I bought $24 in Edy’s products would 2 catalinas print (one purchase)? I was thinking of doing 4 of the regular sized ice cream ($12) plus 3 of the ice cream cups ($3)…less 2- $1/2 for the regular ice cream and 1-$1/3 for the cups… then hopefully 2-$4 catalinas…final cost $4????

The $0.75 q for the Idahoan potatoes will not double. It takes off $0.75 and then $0.25. They said even though you have to buy 3, the coupon won’t take off for more than the cost of 1, which is $1.09. I’ve tried at 2 stores and have been told the same at both.

Hi Jessica:) It may work, but I always split my transactions up unless I hear from someone who has tried it. I’m never the first to try it just because It seems I never get to GE until late in the sale:( I’ll update and let you guys know if it’s working on multiples!

Tammy, Thanks for the reminder of the shelf price on the ice cream, but when I looked for the Edy’s coupon we didn’t get it, and it wasn’t in the coupon database either. Is this maybe the Dreyer’s coupon? and can you use it on the Edy’s product? They both look the same, but different names. Thanks for your help.

7 Tammy June 22, 2011 at 1:06 pm

Thanks Jen…hopefully they will fix the problem:)
Lisa – Here in Pitt we received a coupon for $1/2 Edy’s, but I think Dreyer’s is the same and different areas may have received that one instead. I’m guessing it can be used on Edy’s without breaking any coupon rules since they are the same company (I think). It might depend on your cashier though…..also maybe some stores have Dreyer’s in the ad if that’s what they sell that instead of Edy’s?

In regards to the Twizzler’s deal, I received a $1.00/3 for Twizzler’s … I don’t know about everyone else. PS. I’m kind of new to this coupon thing and it seems like my only big success so far is having about 30 tubes of free toothpaste lol. But I’m going to keep at it!

On the Edy’s slow churned/fun flavors, it a smidgen better deal if you just buy 10 instead of 12. 10=12.90 shelf. Use 3 $1 cpns and get the $4 catalina. $10-$3-$4 = $3/10 = 30 cents a piece.

April, How did you get your Sunday coupons already?

Reply

11 Tammy June 22, 2011 at 4:50 pm

April – Oh No! I hope some papers around Giant Eagles get the awesome $.75/1 coupon! Soon you will have a supply of many things – but if you are like me you will also run out of things. I seem to not know that we are running low on something until I get back from shopping!

Thanks Sarah:) I stayed awake until 2am working on these deals and for a while my brain was thinking we had to buy $15 worth (instead of 12) I thought I went back and fixed them all but it looks like I missed that one! I better drink some more caffeine if I’m gonna stay up late-lol

April- Some areas receive the Redplum in their regular mail on Tuesday or Wednesday. They are lucky that they get them early, but unlucky that they can’t simply buy many Sunday papers to get multiple inserts. Of course, they could have non-couponing neighbors that would give them the inserts ;)

Tammy, I get the RedPlum on Tuesdays. But it says that the Twizzler q that it will be in the SS. So I wondered how April had gotten that already. I didn’t get any in my RedPlum, that’s for sure.

I had a question a bout the savingstar ecoupons, will my ecoupon and paper coupon stack at GE? This is a new ecoupon site for me and I’m excited to try it out.

Thanks again Tammy for another great week of GE deals!

16 Tammy June 22, 2011 at 11:21 pm

Julie – ahhh…yes- I wasn’t thinking:) I’m not sure how April got her SS already?
Kristi- SavingStar is fairly new so I haven’t bought anything yet that I have saved to my card, so I’m not sure if it has lots of kinks to work out or not (kinda like how the eCoupons don’t always work). However, the SavingStar coupon should work as long as you buy the product no matter how many coupons you use on that product. So you could buy (just an example) shampoo and use a manufacturer coupon, plus an eCoupon and it could be part of a catalina deal AND your savingstar coupon should still add money to your account. I doubt all the stars would align and we would have a deal that would include all of those things, but it should still work even if that did happen:) This is the way I understand it – I’m curious to give this new thing a try!

I would like to say…has anyone had trouble with coupons not doubling at Giant Eagle? Last three trips have had issues with some of my coupons and they do not say “do not double” so I am very confused as to why. They have all been printed from the internet but I had others that were printed that doubled just fine. I am just told that the computer does all the doubling and there is nothing that can be done. I guess now I am not sure how to plan a trip if I have no idea if the q’s will double or not.

I got the SS for this week on Monday night. A friend of mine runs a convenience store and he gave me one when his delivery came. I guess he gets them at the beginning of the week.

@ Doreen … I was under the impression that printed coupons never double? Maybe you just got lucky with a few of them?

I got my SS and RP in the mail yesterday. I usually get them Tues. or Wed. and the I get two papers on Sunday. Usually the Post-Gazette doesn’t put both inserts in so I’m glad I get some through the mail. I got the $1 off 3 Twizzler coupon as well. :( Not sure if their will be a better one in Sunday’s insert.

21 Tammy June 23, 2011 at 9:20 am

Doreen & April- I haven’t had any trouble with coupons doubling. I know if the barcode starts with a 9 instead of a 5 that they usually will not double. Other than that, they should double. Do you remember which coupons they were? The way their policy is written, it looks like internet coupons won’t double – but they are coded the same way that a non-internet coupon is so the register doubles them automatically unless the cashier stops it (which they shouldn’t). My coupons have always doubled in the past. I hope they don’t make a change that stops that since many of my coupons are printed!

Dawn -bummer:( That Twizzler deal was looking so good!

22 Dawn June 23, 2011 at 9:22 am

The Twizzlers would still be a buck each though. But not as good as FREE and making a dollar! lol

Thanks Tammy, I’m going to buy a skinny cow ice cream thing and use my new savingstar ecoupon and paper coupon from all you! I believe it was in the April issue (if not April than it’s May). That would be $2/1!!! :)

If anyone has a Kuhn’s store near them, they often have coupons on the back of their weekly ad. Right now there is a $3/4 packs of 24 oz. Pepsi products. Giant Eagle has them on sale 4/$9. Giant Eagle will take the coupons from the ad. Final cost will be 4/$6, $1.50 each. Not bad! There also a $3/2 24 packs of Pepsi products, which Shop n’ Save has on sale for 2/$10. Final price 2/$7, or $3.50 each.

Does anyone know if I can combine a GE catalina coupon with a mfg coupon? I have GE catalinas for Pantene & it would be awesome if I could combine that with the $3/2 mfg cpn!

I would like to say..
a few of them that did not double were the fresh express salad coupons for .50 and wise snack coupon for .75 off 2. Funny thing is the wise coupon doubled on Sunday but not yesterday. I asked the manager and was told must be something they did at corporate so I am hoping that not all internet coupons will no longer double.
Also, the deal with DH Brownies and b2gofree coupon-can no longer use another coupon on the two that you have to buy to get free item.

I would like to say…I am frustrated! I went to Giant Eagle for the Edy’s ice cream deal. I had three $1/3 mnf cpn for the fun flavors. I also had a $1/10 catalina for the fun flavors. I purchased 10. I expected to get them for $6 plus the $4 cat. I was told that in order to use both coupons I would have had to buy 19. They even checked with the customer service. I have doubled them up before with no problem. Anyone else have trouble? I was able to do Tammy’s deal on the bigger sizes. So I ended up with $12 in cats. Still good I guess.

I would like to say… I had no idea you could combine mnf cpns with catalinas? I should try that. Anyway, I always email giant eagle.com when I have a problem and they always help me. Sometimes an ecpn wouldn’t work or I never got a catalina so they send me a coupon or gift card or put the money on my savings card so it scans next time.
I also just want to say, cause I didn’t see it above, but I could have missed it. You MUST do separate transactions for the Edy’s. Otherwise you’ll only get one catalina. My cashier said I didn’t have to but when it didn’t print she sent me to customer service.

Erin- you only can combine catalinas with manufacturer coupons when the catalina is a “$2 OYNO, $1 OYNO, etc.” If it is a specific catalina coupon that you sometimes get that is for a specific product like Pantene, you cannot combine it with another Pantene manu coupon since they are both manu coupons. Hope that helps:)

Rose- yea I think that’s a great price for detergent. It is getting harder to find great deals:(. Last year sunscreen was free many times but it looks like this year $3 or $4 is about as cheap as I can get it. Have you also noticed dish soap is harder to find for free?

I was so bummed when I checked my coupon out and saw it was for skinny cow CANDY!!! Still I got some ice cream and splurge on the skinny cow. Sometimes my hard work of couponing (and shopping) should be rewarded with sweet sugar filled sweets.
